Weekly report Jan 20-26

Well it was a nice week here.

Here's what Everett did this week.

LA: 2 Flashkids writing workbook pages, Spelling workout Unit 3, 6 practice lessons in A Reason for Handwriting transition level (cursive letters) 1 lesson in Growing with Grammar grade 3 (we just got this yesterday and he seemed to love it today)

Math: 3 lessons and 1 test in Horizons math 3. He got a 96% on his math test

Geography: He completed 4 pages in The Complete book of Maps and Geography.

This is what Annika did this week.

LA: 10 pages in Explode the Code 1, Spelling workout Units 3 and 4, A Reason for Handwriting week 12 and practice reading some basic phonics easy readers.

Math: 4 lessons in Saxon math 1 (we just started it this week and she loves it so far)

Geography: Week 12 in Daily Geography practice grade 1

Both kids worked on History and Science together, here's what we did there.

History: We did Chapter 9 in Story of the World 2. We learned about The 3 kingdoms of Korea and about Japan's Yamoto dynasty.

Science: We've continued our penguin study and made a penguin mini book and some penguin fact pages about different types of penguins.
PE: 2 classes at the YMCA

Lucas of course drew pictures and played with whatever math manipulatives he could pull out in between breaks for riding his train around the play room or playing with toys in the living room.

On the non-school front we've been just hanging around the house having fun. Since I've enjoyed baking bread and rolls as well as making pizza crust from scratch we've decided to take the next step and buy a home grain mill so we can grind our own fresh flour. We're anxiously awaiting the arrival of the mill and have also found a local co-op that we can get our Wheat berries from. The co-op couldn't be more convenient as the pick up place is a block down the road.
Have a great week and happy homeschooling.
Kel

Sounds like a great week. I'm interested in hearing how the grain mill works out. ;)
