Being Monet

Yesterday I decided we needed to finish our unit on Monet and the impressionists, so I busted out Meet the Masters and the paint.  Annika was excited, it was art after all, Ev wasn't so sure, he'd much rather play a game instead.  I insisted that we had to get back on track.  Life has been so crazy that we haven't gotten nearly as much as I wanted accomplished.  

I had them review what we talked about when we watched the Monet presentation last week, then we did a color wheel in the impressionist style with little dabs of paint instead of mixing colors.

Afterward they painted some trees in the same way.  After they got into the lesson Everett perked up and enjoyed himself.  Sometimes half the battle is pushing them off that ledge into something new.
